HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES
January 14, 2021
The Van Bu en H stork District Commission held its monthly meet ng on Thursday, January 14, 2027 at 5:30 p.m. n the Cit}
Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Commissioners present: Chairman Vickie Davis, Vice Chairman Detald Porter,
Paul Gibson, Cathy Gifford, Lonnie London, and Steve Edwards. Others in attendance: Lane Breeden; and Jane Owen, Lisa
Fort,, Rusty Myers, Carole & Jim Williamson all from the Center for Arts.
Chairman Vickie Davis called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m., the fast item on the agenda was to approve the minutes from
the last meeting. A motion was made by Lonnie London and seconded by Paul Gibson to approve the minutes. The motion
was approved unanimously.
Next item on the agenda was the continuation of a Certificate of Appropriateness at 409 Main Street, Larry Bxeedeu, Camille
& Co. Boutique, for design and materials approval. Larry Breeden listed Sturgis Gray and Gropius Gray from the Historic
Colors of America pamphlet as the paint he will use for the original metal columns, metal plates, under awnings and tram, and
the ceiling under the porch. Mt. Breeden brought in a sample of English Cottage thin brick in the color Melrose for approval
as fagade replacement for the temporary tin around the porch front and for the brick below the large windows. Larry Breeden
asked to put a ceiling fan under the porch —Commissioners stated the fan cannot have lights, it must be muted in color, and
look era appropriate. Also, up for approval was the composite wood flooring Mt. Breeden intends to lay in the front area
under the porch. The flooring sample he later presented was a light gray wood -look composite material. A motion was made
by Lonnie London and seconded by Paul Gibson for approval of remodel design colors and materials at 409 Main Street. The
motion was approved unanimously.

Lastly, New/Old Business: Discussion about how to enforce Historic District Guidelines on non compliant merchants. It was
mentioned to aslc Planning Director Wally Baily for suggestions or a proposal that the Historic District Commission could
further look over and discuss.
A motion to adjourn was made by Paul Gibson and seconded by Lonnie London.
