HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES
August 13, 2020
The Van Buren I3istor c District Commission held its monthly mee ng on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 5:30
P.M. in the City Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Members Present: Chairman Vickie Davis, Vice
Chairman Detald Porter, Paul Gibson, Lonnie London and Steve Edwards. Others present: Anna Patterson
and Angela O'Neal
Chairman Viclde Davis called the meeting to order at 5:30pm, the first item on die agenda was to approve the
minutes from the last meeting. A motion was made by Steve Edwards and seconded by Paul Gibson to
approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously.
Next item on the agenda was a Certificate of Appropriateness on 826 Main Street, Angela O'Neal, fox sign
approval. Ms. O'Neal stated to the commission her proposed colors and font for consideration. The
commission was concerned about the eagle and woman on the design not being appropriate for the time
period for 1880 vintage. Outside sign is to be no more than 2ft tall and 4ft wide. The image of the eagle and
woman can be mounted on the inside of the window 6' back. Colors approved ate New Port Indigo, Robins
Egg Blue, Jewitt White and Stagecoach. All colors must be flat. A motion to approve the COA was made by
Lonnie London and seconded by Paul Gibson. The motion was approved unanimously.
The next item was Billy Ann Patterson approaching the commission for questions concerning her house at
203 Cane Hill, Van Buren, AR, Ms. Patterson stated net desire to see if net house would qualify for the
Arkansas or National Register. Julie Copple, HDC Secretary will send an email to Ms. Patterson, with all the
information and qualifications for this process.
Commission Training will be available online with zoom, September 11th. Also, training for CLG grant
applications and the process on September 17 w ll be available online too.

A motion to adjourn was made by Lonnie London and seconded by Paul Gibson.
