HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES
June 13, 2019
The Van Buren Historic District Commission held its monthly meeting on Thursday, April 113 2019 at 5:30
P.M. in the City Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Members Present: Chairman Vickie Davis, Vice
Chairman Derald Porter, Paul Gibson, Lonnie London, Cathy Gifford and Roger Redden. Others Present:
Julie Copple, Secretary, Tracy Miller, Tracy Burba and Shelia Bell,
Chairman Vidtie Davis called the meeting to order at 5:30pm, the fast item on the agenda was to approve the
minutes from the April meeting. A motion was made by Cathy Gifford and seconded by Derald Porter to
approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was the COA#1-2019, 820 Main Street, Tracy Miller, Old Town Ice Cream and
Candy Shoppe. Tracy Miller stated she needed sign approval for metal and window. Chairman Davis stated
all paint must be flat. The colors are Andover Cream, Robin Egg and Stagecoach red. Fonts: Baheula Clean
and Helvetica. All colors are from the Historic Collection. A motion was made by Paul Gibson and seconded
by Cathy Gifford to approve the COA does not significantly affect any surrounding buildings and is in
accordance with the Van Buren Historic District Design Guidelines, 1025. The motion was approved
unanimously.
The next item was COA442-2019, Tracy Burba, 711 Main Street, Upcycled clothing and gift boutique. Tracy
Burba stated she needed approval to paint the outside brick and trim. Colors are Polished Pewter and Quincy
Granite, flat finish. Ms. Burba would like to add a sign later, but does not know the font. Chairman Davis
stated she could bring the information for now they are removing the current sign of Marcia Cooksey. A
motion was made by Derald Porter and seconded by Lonnie London to approve the COA does not
significantly affect any surrounding buildings and is in accordance with the Van Buren Historic District
Design Guidelines. The motion was approved unanimously.
Next item was the Big Check Ceremony for our 2019-2020 CLG/AHPP giants on June 25 at 10am in North
Little Rock. Julie Copple will be attending. Any cotnmissionex's that would like to join in the presentation axe
encouraged to attend. The nex tern was Old/New Business: A motion was made by Paul Gibson and
