HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES
November 14, 2019
The Van Buren Historic District Commssion held its monthly meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2019 at
5:30 P.M. in the City Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Members Present: Chairman Vickie Davis,
Vice Chairman Derald Porter, Cathy Gifford, Paul Gibson, Lonnie London and Roger Redden. Others
Present: Joy Holman and Julie Copple, Planning Assistant.
Chairman Vickie Davis called the meeting to order at 5:30pm, the first item on the agenda was to approve the
minutes from the last meeting. A motion was made by Paul Gibson and seconded by Derald Porter to
approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was the COA#5-2019, Joy FIolman, 820 Main Street, fox a sign approval. Ms.
Holman presented pictures of her sign design for Rydlee's roost. Colors are Sayward Pine and Andover
Cream from the historic color chart. Sign proposal is fox window and hanging sign. Paul Gibson recused
from the vote. A motion was made by Cathy Gifford and seconded by Lonnie London for approval of the
COA, and it does not significantly affect surrounding area. The motion was unanimous.
Next item on the agenda was fox Dollars and Sense training in Conway on Friday, December 6, 2019. The
training will be held at UCA Downtown, 1105 Oak Street, Conway. Training time is 8-12. Please let Julie
Copple know if you will be attending.
Tap Grant update: The Historic District Commission will be on the committee for the downtown
stxeetscape project grant start ng next year.
New/Old Business: Totma update from Roger Redden: Ground breaking on November 20th Fox CAE.
Name has changed to Art on Ma n. Jingle/Mingle on December 7a, New Year's Eve party downtown with
KISR/Ball Drop Family celebration, lots of fun, vendors and children's activities.
A motion was made by Paul Gibson and seconded by Roger Redden to adjourn. The motion was approved
