HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES
October 103 2019
The Van Buren Historic Distr ct Commission held its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 103 2019 at
5:30 P.M. in the City Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Members Present: Chairman Vickie Davis,
Vice Chairman Detald Porter, Paul Gibson, Lonnie London and Roger Redden. Others Present: Jesus
Garcia and Julie Copple, Planning Assistant.
Chairman Vickie Davis called the meeting to order at 5:30pm, the first item on the agenda was to approve the
minutes from the last meeting. A motion was made by Lonnie London and seconded by Detald Porter to
approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously.
The next item on the agenda was the COA#4-2019, Jesus Gaxaa, 612 Main Street, fox a sign approval and
outside paint colors. Mr. Garcia thought PAC printers had emailed the pictures of the sign proposed. The
paint color for the trim will be Goldenrod, which will replace all the gray color that is currently on the
building. The sign proposed will have block letters, vinyl window sign approximately 70in x45in. Mr. Garcia
will email the sign colors to Julie Copple, and then colors and sign proposed will be sent by email to all
commissioners for approval. A motion was made by Lonnie London and seconded by Paul Gibson for
approval of the COA, and it does not significantly affect surrounding area. The motion was unanimous.
Next item on the
agenda
was. the notice of intent letter for the 2020 CLG grant. Some
pxoiects suggested Fox
the CLG grants were fox
updated design guidelines, national tegistet nomination fox Paul Gant House,
possible wall sign
by the
train depot. Also discussed was the Downtown beautification
TAP grant.
New/Old Business: Chairman
Davis recommended the HDC send
a letter to
Mayor Joe Hurst about
recla ming the bricks from the
downtown street once constructions
begins.
A motion was
made by Paul Gibson
and seconded by Detald Poxtex
to adi'ourn.
The motion. was approved
unanimously.
