06 June 2020 Regular MINUTES OF THE VAN BUREN,ARKANSAS CITY COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 22,2020 The City Council of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas met at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Van Buren Public Library. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hurst. On roll call,the following Council members answered as their names were called: Council Member Sparkman, Kneeland, Petty, Swaim and Dodson. City Clerk-Treasurer Phyllis Thomas and City Attorney Candice Settle were present. Council Member Wood was present, but arrived late. This made a total of nine (9) present. A quorum was declared. The invocation was given by Mayor Joe Hurst. Mayor Hurst then led the Pledge of Allegiance. City Planner Wally Bailey explained that this is just another property along the alleyway that we have previously closed for other property owners. AOG was the only utility company that commented on the closure as they have an easement in that section. An agreement was made and filed with the Circuit Clerk's office to accommodate this. There was also no one in the public attendance that had any objections. The Mayor then put the question, "Shall the Ordinance pass?" Motion was made by Council Member Petty and seconded by Council Member Kneeland to adopt the Ordinance. On the Clerk's calling the roll, the following vote resulted: Ayes—Council Member Kneeland, Petty, Dodson, Swaim, Wood and Sparkman.Nays—None.
