RES NO 09-08-2002 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS RESOLUTION NO. 1 -2002 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, The Van Buren Municipal Utilities Commission has recommended that the City purchase certain property to be used by the Commission and other City agencies and departments; and WHEREAS, The City Council believes it to be in the best interest and public welfare of the citizens and residents of Van Buren to purchase the real property described below, along with the improvements thereon; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1: THAT the Mayor is authorized to purchase the following property and any improvements thereon to be used by the Commission and other City agencies and departments: Legal Description Part of the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of Section 20, Township 9 North Range 31 West, Crawford County, Arkansas, being more particularly described as follows: Commencing at the Northwest corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter. Thence along the North line of said forty, South 89 degrees 54 minutes 35 seconds East, 315.00 feet to an X cut in the concrete and point of beginning. Thence continue along said North line, South 89 degrees 54 minutes 35 seconds East, 633.61 feet to a set rebar. Thence leaving said North line, South 71 degrees 53 minutes 26 seconds East 463.55 feet to an existing iron pin. Thence North 89 degrees 54 minutes 35 seconds West, 589.98 feet to an existing iron pin. Thence North 00 degrees 08 minutes 03 seconds West, 110.91 feet to an existing iron pin. Thence North 89 degrees 54 minutes 35 seconds West, 185.00 feet to an existing railroad spike. Thence North 00 degrees 08 minutes 03 seconds West, 330.00 feet to the point of beginning, containing 6.65 acres and subject to road rights of way and easements of record. T" ATTESTED: C s17RE al-Q.P C Ce \c 0 RESOLUTION of the VAN BUREN MUNICIPAL UTILITIES COMMISSION WHEREAS, Van Buren, Arkansas, is a City of the first class and is now operating its Municipal Utilities Commission as authorized byA.C.A 14- 234 -302 and Van Buren Ordinance No. 9 -1965, and WHEREAS, the Van Buren Municipal Utilities Commission believes it to be in the best interest and public welfare of the citizens and residents of Van Buren to purchase the real property hereinafter described, along with the improvements thereon, pursuant to authority set forth in A.C.A 14 -54 -302; and WHEREAS, transfer of the City's ownership in the real property and improvements presently occupied by the Van Buren Municipal Utilities Commission and situated at 409 Main Street in Van Buren will be necessary as partial consideration for said purchase.
