ORD NO 10-2003 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS ORDINANCE NO. ID —2003 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING FIRE PROTECTION DESIGN STANDARDS ORDINANCE NO. 14 -2002. WHEREAS, The Van Buren Planning Commission desires to update the Fire Protection Design Standards; and WHEREAS, A Public Hearing has been held as required by law and the Planning Commission has recommended said revisions to the Van Buren City Council for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1: THAT the minimum gpm for public mains in residential areas is hereby changed from 750 to "1000" gpm. SECTION 2: THAT the maximum distance measured along the curb line between hydrants is hereby changed from 850 feet to "500" feet. SECTION 3: THAT the distance that the last hydrant in a cul -de -sac in residential areas containing one and two family dwellings should be located from the farthest building set back line at the end of the street is hereby changed from 300 feet to "250" feet. SECTION 4: THAT the distance that the last hydrant in a cul -de -sac in R -3 zones should be located from the farthest building set back line at the end of the street is hereby changed from 300 feet to "250" feet. SECTION 5: THAT the minimum gpm for hydrants on through streets in areas other than residential zones is hereby changed from 1,000 gpm to "1500" gpm. SECTION 6: THAT the distance that the last hydrant in a cul -de -sac in an area other than a residential zone from the farthest building set back line at the end of the street should be changed from 300 feet to "250" feet. SECTION 7: THAT the distance from a public fire hydrant that buildings such as commercial, industrial and residential buildings other than one and two family dwellings that are required to be provided with the required minimum number of hydrants and be connected to a water system capable of supplying the fire flow is hereby changed from 150 feet to "250" feet. This section shall hereby be referenced to "Arkansas State Fire Code, Appendix C," rather than Arkansas State Fire Code, Section 603.1.3. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS a4 DAY OF NOVEMBER 2003.
