Historic District Meeting Minutes 02-12-2015City of Van Buren, Arkansas Municipal Complex/Annex 111 North 12"' Street • Van Buren, Arkansas 72956 HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES February 12, 2015 The Van Buren Historic District Commission held its monthly meeting on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 5:30 P.M. in the City Council Room of the Municipal Complex. Members Present — Chairman Vickie Davis, Lisa Willis, Derald Porter, Paul Gibson, Cathy Gifford and Lonnie London. Others Present — Planning Director Joe Hurst. Historic District Commission Chairman Vickie Davis called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. The first action by the commission was to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. A motion was made by Paul Gibson and seconded by Cathy Gifford to approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously. The next item on the agenda was for the election of officers. There was a discussion between the members, and the consensus was to vote on the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman, next month. The next item for discussion was the Geocache update. Lisa Willis suggested the brochure change color and pictures for each new geocache tour. Chairman Vickie Davis suggested we make four (4) different geocache coins along with the brochures. Chairman Davis asked how many brochures need to be ordered for the first tour. Lisa Willis suggested 500 brochures to start. A motion was made by Derald Porter and seconded by Paul Gibson to approve the order of brochures. The motion was approved unanimously. The next item on the agenda was other business. There are CLG/Main Street training opportunities coming up. One is on the 24h of February, at the Historic Arkansas Museum. Derald Porter volunteered to drive all those who were interested in going to Little Rock. Lisa Willis stated goals need to be set for the CLG 2015 grant. One of the projects could be education and restoration for the original post office building. The grant possibly could cover the production costs of the signs for the windows in each historical building. Derald will check on the prices. Also, request for training, local and national, to be requested on the grant. Need to get with the KOA board and see if they are a 501(c) (3) for fundraising. Can we get money from city for plaques honoring past Historic District Commission members? A motion was made by Paul ' son and seconded by Cathy Gifford to adjourn.
