06 June 2000 Special MINUTES OF THE VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 26, 2000 A special called meeting of the City Council of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas met at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, June 26, 2000 at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor John Riggs, presiding officer. Council members present were Alderman Swaim, Parker, Taylor and Spoon. City Clerk Barbie Curtis and City Attorney Candice Settle were also present. Alderman Barker was absent. This made a total of seven(7)present. A quorum was declared. The Mayor ordered spread upon the minutes, the "NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING, CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE OF NOTICE AND THE WAIVER OF REGULAR NOTICE OF AND CONSENT OF SPECIAL MEETING." NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO THE CITY COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, will be held at the City Hall at 6:00 P.M. on the 26th day of June, 2000, for the following purpose: 1. Consider Resolution allowing Tech Group Industries to participate in the Advantage Arkansas Program - (Formerly the Arkansas Enterprise Zone Program.) JOHN RCS, MAYO CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE OF NOTICE I, Barbie Curtis, the duly appointed, qualified and acting City Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, DO HEREBY CERTIFY, that on the 26th day of June, 2000, I served a true copy of the foregoing Notice of Special Meeting to each and every Councilman of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, by handing a copy to each, in the manner provided in the By-Laws. BA E CURTIS, CITY CLERK-TREASURER WAIVER OF REGULAR NOTICE OF AND CONSENT TO SPECIAL MEETING We, the undersigned City Councilmen of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, do hereby accept service of the NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING waiving any and all irregularities in such Service and in such Notice and Consent agree that the said City Councilmen of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, shall meet at the time and place named in such Notice and for the purpose stated therein. ,b A l / There being no further business motion was made by Alderman Moore seconded by Alderman Spoon to adjourn. The City Council members followed with a unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. APPROVED: ATTESTED: MAYOR CITY CLERK On the agenda was to consider a RESOLUTION CERTIFYING LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENDORSEMENT OF BUSINESS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ADVANTAGE ARKANSAS PROGRAM (FORMERLY THE ARKANSAS ENTERPRISE ZONE PROGRAM-ACT 947 OF 1993.) The Clerk read the Resolution in its entirety. The Mayor asked if there was any discussion. Alderman Swaim seconded by Alderman Spoon moved the Resolution be adopted. The question was put by the Mayor on the adoption of the motion and the roll being called, the following voted aye; Alderman Swaim, Parker, Taylor, and Spoon. And the following voted nay; none. Motion was then made by Alderman Spoon and seconded by Alderman Swaim, that the Resolution become effective immediately which motion on roll call carried by the unanimous vote of the Council. The Mayor thereupon declared the Resolution adopted and signed the Resolution, which was attested by City Clerk and impressed with the seal of the City. THE RESOLUTION WAS GIVEN THE NUMBER 6-5-2000 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS RESOLUTION NO. 6-6 —2000 A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENDORSEMENT OF BUSINESS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ADVANTAGE ARKANSAS PROGRAM (FORMERLY THE ARKANSAS ENTERPRISE ZONE PROGRAM — ACT 947 of 1993.) WHEREAS, The local government must endorse a business to participate in the Advantage Arkansas Program and benefit from the refunds/tax credits as provided in the Arkansas Enterprise Zone Program Reg— ulations of 1993; and WHEREAS, Said endorsement must be made on specific form available from Arkansas Department of Economic Development; and WHEREAS, Tech Group Industries, to be located at 1819 S. 28th Street, Van Buren, Arkansas, has sought to participate in the program and morespecifically has requested benefits accruing from the establishment of the specific facility; and WHEREAS, Tech Group Industries has agreed to furnish the local government all necessary information for compliance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1: THAT Tech Group Industries be endorsed by the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, for benefits from the refunds/tax credits as provided in the Arkansas Enterprise Zone Program Regulations of 1993, through June 30, 2001. SECTION 2: THAT the Resolution shall take effect immediately. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 26TH DAY OF JUNE , 2000 ATTESTED: CITY CLERK—TREASURER Alderman David Moore made the Council Meeting after the Resolution was passed. Alderman Taylor seconded by Alderman Spoon made a motion to adjourn. The Council members followed with a unanimous vote.
