AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX FUR CITY GENERAL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES FOR
THE YEAR 1966 FOR PUBLIC LIBRARY AND FOR MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT BONDS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN.,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the rate of taxation of all real and personal
property in Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966 for general
municipal purposes under the authority of Section 4, Article XII
of the Constitution of 1874 of the State of Arkansas, be and the
same•is hereby fixed at five (5) mills on the dollar of the assessed
valuation of all real and personal property subject to taxation in the
City of Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966, for general municipal
purposes.
Section 2. That the rate of taxation on all real and personal
property in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966 for
the.maintenance of a City Public Library under the authority of a
vote of the People of the City of Van Duren at the City General
Election held on April 7, 1942 be and the same is hereby fixed
at One (1) mill on the dollar of the assessed valuation of all
real and pursonal property subject to taxation in the City of
Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966 for library maintenance
purposes.
Section 3. That the rate of taxation of all real and personal
property in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966,
for the purpose of meeting the bond maturities and interest'on
the bond issue authurizad by the special election of September
30, 1958 for the purpose of purchasing Street repair and mainten-
ance equipment; fire fighting equipment and station house; refin-
ancing of a previous bend issue in the amount of .8,250.00 for
the construction of an armory; and purchasing and development of
public park and swimming pool, be and the same is hereby affixed
at five (5) mills on the dollar of the assessed valuation of all
real and personal property subject to taxation in the City of
Van Buren, Arkansas for the year 1966.
Section 4. That a certified copy of this ordinance shall
be filed in the office of the County Clerk of Crawford County,
Arkansas in order that the quorum court of Crawford County,
Arkansas may include the same in the general levy for the year
1966, and cause the same to be extended upon the tax books and
collected as required by law.
Section 5. This ordinance being immediately necessary to
obtaih revenue to pay the expenses to the City Government for
the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, and necessary in providing for
the immediate preservation of public peace, health and safety,
an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be and
take effect and be in force after tis passage and publication.
