ORD NO 12-1962 ORDINANCE N0. 12 -1962
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A SALARY AND FEES FOR THE CITY ATTORNEY
OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, the duties of the City Attorney of the City of Van
Buren have increased, and
WHEREAS, it is permissive under State law to provide for a
salary and fees for the City Attorney.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN,
ARKANSAS
SECTION 1. That commencing the first day of January, 1963
the City Attorney of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas shall receive
in addition to the salary now paid him as provided in Ordinance
14 -1960 the following fees as authorized by law in all Criminal Cases;
as following,
(a) In cases whore the fine is less than ;310.00: No fee.
(b) In cases where the fine actually levied and collected are
5;10.00 but less than 025.01: A City Attorney fea cf 02.50 will
be assessed and collected.
(c) In cases where the fine actually levied and collected are
over '.`25.00 but less than :50.01: A City Attorney fee of %5000 will
be assessed -nd collected.
(d) In cases where the fine actually levied and collected
exceed $50.00: A City Attorney fae of 510.00 will be assessed and
collected.
SECTION 2. Should such salary and foes exceed the statutory
limit an compensation for the City Attorney said excess fees will be
used as the City Council rnry direct.
SECTION 3. That ell laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance being immediately necessary to
adjust the compensation of the City Attorney and necessary in pro-
viding for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health
and safety an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall
be end take effect and be in fullfcrce after its passage, approval
and publications
