ORD NO 14-1975 ORDINANCE ND. 1975 AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE RETIREMENT BENEFITS FIR CITY ATTORNEYS DE THE CITY OF VAN BUREN ARKANSAS AS PROVIDED BY ACT 354 of 1975. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas: 1. That any elected City Attorney of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, upon serving as elected City Attorney of such City for a period of not less than fifteen (15) years and upon retiring at the age of sixty (60) years, or upon serving as elected City Attorney of such City for a period of twenty (20) years without regard to age, shall be e ntitled to retirement with an annuity for the remainder of his, or her, natural life, payable at the rate of one -half (z) the salary payable to such City Attorney at the time of his retirement provided no benefits to such attorneys will be in excess of two- thousand- five hundred dollars (52,500.00) per year. 2. It is hereby found and determined by the City Council of the City of Van ''uren, Arkansas, that the authoriz- ation of reasonable retirement allowance for elected City Attorneys in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, is essential to the recruitment and retention of compentent attorneys, and that the immediate passage of the Ordinance is necessary to accomplish said purpose; therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, the this Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall be in full force and effect from,and after, its passage and approval. 4090ry Mayor Attested: Lity Clerk
