RES NO 12-01-1973 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS
RESOLUTION No. 12 -1 -73
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN
BUREN, ARKANSAS.
Section 1. That the following employment practies are
hereby adopted.
Whenever possible, promotions and appointment to any
supervisory level position shall be made by giving those
individuals currently employed by the City first and highest
consideration, other qualifications factors being equal.
Supervisors and department heads will encourage and
carry out on- the -jobs training for those individuals under
their control who exhibit leadership and job performance
qualities which indicate potential supervisory talent, in the
hope of placing these individuals in positions of increased
responsibilities.
Training programs will be structured to help meet the
supervisory needs of each department, but will generally include
special considerations by the supervisor. Counseling and
training by supervisors as well as special schools, seminars,
or training programs where needed will also be provided. These,
too, will be focused on the special and individual needs of
each department.
A special need for a concerted and continuing effort in
assisting disadvantaged and minority group members through
employment and promotion practices by the City is fully recognized.
Every effort will be made to assist individuals in these groups
through special consideration by the City in the area of recruit-
ing, training and advancement practices.
Section 2. That a copy of this resolution be furnished to
all department heads of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, and
a copy given to all employes of the City.
