Be it resolved that in order to provide Ambulance Services of quality to the
citizens -of Crawford County, City of Van Buren herewith adopts the following if
standards in accordance with Western Arkansas Emergency Medical Services
Program.
si 1.. Ambulance- -The van will be equipped according the the BOST� specific
's) ations and maintain the orange on white color designation for EMS. The y.
ambulance vehicles and equipment will conform to the following:,
(a) All units and equipment will meet acceptable safety standards

(b) All vehicles and equipment must be equal to, or exceed`, ess
ential equipment requirements of the American College of
Surgeons Trauma Committee, and be revised as changes are made.

(c) Essential and' appropriate communication equipmentwilEbe main-
tained on the vehicle by the Ambulance Company, and appropriate,
radio communication equipment will be maintained by the hospital
to provide the critical element of uniting all components of the'
total health delivery system of the community
2. Personnel -To insure quality care, the Ambulance Company will provide
personnel with the following qualifications
(a) All emergency vehicles will be staffed with at least two (2) people
(b) One of those in the vehicle will have completed the Emergency.
Medical Technician training course, or be in the process of attending j. f,
a qualified Emergency Medical Technician training course towards

completion and certification.
(c) Any personnel will be at least 171 years of age.

(d) The driver of the emergency vehicle will be at least twenty -one (21)
years of age.
(e) All personnel will comply in all ways with city, state, and federal
laws.
(f) The Ambulance Company will make every effort to provide con-
0 tinuing education programs for its personnel.
(g) Attendant and Driver must have instruction in and experience in
defensive driving and communications.
(h) Dispatcher must have training and experience in communications and
the various codes to be used along with ethical behavior to be
followed.
2. Response Time -To render quality service this agreement provides for
the following:
(a) Ambulance services available 24 hours a day with immediate response
and hack -up capability.
(b) Sufficient ambulance units to cover the service area.
(c) At least one (1) vehicle will be stationed in Van Buren.
0 (d) Any Ambulance Service providing service to the citizens of Van
Buren must provide their own back up equipment and personnel.
(e) The van and personnel must be able to be on the street and running
immediately after the call is received.

3. Communications Equipment- -all communications equipment must be on
an auxiliary pwoer system in case of local power failure.
