ORD NO 44-1976 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS ORDINANCE /l `f t -1976 AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE /i 42 -1976, SETTING CHARGES TO BE CHARGED PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN PAYMENTS TO PERMIT HOLDER; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER RELATED PURPOSES. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1: That the third paragraph of Section 2 of Ordinance No. 42 -1976 is amended to read as follows: Said permits may be granted for such length of time, upon such terms, and at such rates as said City Council shall determine; provided that until otherwise fixed by Ordinance, said permitees shall not charge any person in excess of Twenty -seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($27.50) per trip for other than an emergency within the limits of said City between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. o'clock, and said permitees shall NOT charge any person in excess of Thirty Dollars ($30.00) for an emergency trip within said City. Provided more than one person is transported in the same ambulance for med- ical treatment, the charge for each additional person shall be at the rate of Ten Dollars ($10.00) each; that the total bill shall be prorated equally between all persons transported for medical treatment; provided, however, said permitees may charge a reasonable rate for accessories and devices for emergency treatment provided said permittees file a schedule for said charges with the City Clerk of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas. SECTION 2: That there shall be added a Section 11 to said Ordinance lE 42 -1976, as follows: That where a permit holder transports more than one person for medical treatment wholly within the limits of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, the said City will pay to said permit holder Twenty Dollars ($20.00) for each additional person transported for medical treatment wholly within the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, over one, and upon said permit holder filing a veri- fied claim. SECTION 3: That the provision of this Ordinance shall be retroactive to the 18th day of October, 1976. SECTION 4: It having been found and determined that inadequate emergency ambulance service within said City will result in a condition menancing to the public peace, health and safety, and therefore, and emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of said public peace, health, and safety, same shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
