ORD NO 02-1979 0 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS
ORDINANCE NO. 2 -1979
AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE LEASE
OF A CAR FROM JACK MOTOR COMPANY FOR THE USE OF THE MAYOR.
WHEREAS, the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, has an immediate need to lease a
car for the Mayor, and,
WHEREAS, Jack Motor Company has an Oldsmobile telta Royal which they are
willing to lease to the City of Van Buren, Arkansas at $235.00 per month
for one (1) year, and,
WHEREAS, Section 19 -4425 of the Arkansas Statutes 1947 Annotated, provides
that the governing body may waive the requirement of competitive bidding
in exceptional situations, where the procedure is deemed not feasible or
practical.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN,
ARKANSAS,
1. THAT, the City Council waives the requirement of competitive
bidding in this particular case, as such procedure is not deemed
feasible or practical as the City needs transportation for the
Mayor at the present time and the terms are reasonable and the
Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract with Jack Motor Co.
for the lease of a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta Royal at $235.00 per
month for a term of one (1) year and the City Clerk- Treasurer is
authorized to attest said contract.
This Ordinance being immediately necessary to obtain an automobile for the
Mayor's Office and necessary in providing for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist and
this Ordinance shall be, take effect and be in force after it's passage and
publication.
