ORD NO 41-1981 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS
ORDINANCE N0. 4 -1981
WHEREAS, A Petition was duly filed with the City Council of
the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, on the 23rd day of November
1981, requesting the City Council to vacate and abandon certain
portions of the streets designated on the plat of Hynes Addition
to the City of Van Buren, the portion of which streets is des-
cribed as follows:
That part of Gorman Street lying West of Block 5;
That part of Connor Street Lying between Block 5 and
Block 6;
That part of the platted alley lying within Block 6;
That part of Laura Street lying South of Blocks 5 and
6 of Hynes Addition, and North of Laura Street as
dedicated to public use in dedication recorded in
Miscellaneous record book 27 at page 193;
WHEREAS, after due notices as required by law, the Council has
at the time and places mentioned in the notice, heard all persons
desiring to be heard on the question, and has ascertained that the
portion of the street and alley hereinbefore described has not
been actually used by the public generally for a period of five
years subsequent to the filing of the Petition; that all the owners
of the property abutting upon the portion of the street to be
vacated have joined in the petition with the Council in writing,
giving their consent, and consenting that the same be abandoned;
that the public interest and welfare will not be adversely affected
by the abandonment of such street;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1
The City of Van Buren, Arkansas, hereby releases, vacates and
abandons all its rights, together with the rights of the public
generally in and to that protion of the streets designated as fol-
lows:

That part of Gorman Street lying West of Block 5;
That part of Connor Street lying between Block 5 and
Block 6;
That part of the platted alley lying within Block 6;
That part of Laura Street lying South of Blocks 5 and
6 of Hynes Addition, and North of Laura Street as
dedicated to public use in dedication recorded in
Miscellaneous record book 27 at page 193;
SECTION 2
A copy of the ordinance duly certified by the City Clerk
shall be filed in the office of the recorder of the county, and
recorded in the deed records of Crawford County.
SECTION 3
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage, and shall not effect utility easements pres-
ently located within the vacated property.
