RESOLUTION NO. V 1984
A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING DATE FOR ABANDONMENT OF
PARKVIEW STREET BETWEEN NINTH STREET AND ELEVENTH STREET IN THE
CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS.
0 WHEREAS, Joseph W. Sidler and Cora Sidler have petitioned
the City Council of Van Buren, Arkansas, to vacate and abandon
all that portion of the street platted as Parkview Street between
Ninth Street and Eleventh Street; and,
WHEREAS, the only other property owner is the Trinity
Episcopal Church which has given oral approval to said
abandonment; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of Van Buren, Arkansas, acting
under the authority of Arkansas Statutes Annotated Section
19 -3814 has the authority to abandon streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS:
THAT, a public hearing is set for May 21, 1984, at 7:00 p.m.
at which time said petition shall be presented to the City
Council and this Council will determine at that time whether such
property should be abandoned as a street and that all abutting
property owners and other persons directly interested have
consented to such abondonment.
The City Council of Van Buren, Arkansas, is hereby directed
to give notice by publication once a week for two weeks in
some newspaper published in Crawford County advising the property
owners affected that on said date and time that the Council will
hear said petition. A(

PETITION TO VACATE
Comes Joseph W. Sidler and Cora Sidler, and petition the
City Council of Van Buren, Arkansas, to vacate and abandon all
that portion of the street platted as Parkview Street between
Ninth Street and Eleventh Street, and in support of their
Petition, state:
I.
That the petitioners are the owners of all the lots on
the south side of said street being Lot 10, in the Southeast
Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 24, Township 9 North,
Range 32 West containing five acres more or less and as shown
on the photocopy of Hawkins Addition to the City of Van Buren,
Arkansas, which is attached hereto and marked Exhibit A.
II.
That the Archbishop of the Arkansas Diocese of the
Episcopal Church owns that property immediately north of the
above said street and that the governing body of the local church
has shown their support for the closing of the street,however,
obtaining the execution of the legal documents necessary by the
Archbishop would create unnecessary delay in the closing of the
street.
III.
That there are no other interested parties other than the
petitioners herein and the Episcopal Church.
IV.
That the street to be closed is not used by the public and
has not been used by the public for a period of more than ten years.
if
WHEREFORE, petitioners pray that this Council pass its
Resolution fixing the date for hearing upon the Petition and
direct the City Council to give notice of such meeting by
publication once a week for two consecutive weeks in some
newspaper published in the county having a general circulation
in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas, which notice shall state
the name of the persons signing the Petition, the name of the
street to be vacated, and notifying all persons of the date of
the hearing and that upon such hearing the Petitioners pray
that this Council enact its Ordinance vacating that portion of
the street platted as Parkview lying between Ninth Street and
Eleventh Street in the City of Van Buren, Arkansas.
