A RESOLUTION ADOPTING INCENTIVE PAY PLANS FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE
DEPARTMENTS AND A LONGEVITY PAY PLAN FOR ALL OTHER FULL TIME NON-
ELECTED NON UNIFORMED EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, It is the desire of the City Council to adopt
Incentive and Longevity Pay Plans for its
employees:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS:
THAT, 1. The Comprehensive Pay Incentive Program of
the Police Department which is attached hereto
is hereby adopted effective July 1, 1985.
THAT, 2. The Comprehensive Pay Incentive Program of
the Fire Department which is attached hereto is
hereby adopted effective July 1, 1985.
THAT, 3. The Longevity Pay Program for Full Time
Non-Elected Non Uniformed employees which is
attached hereto is hereby adopted effective July
1, 1985.

THREE PART PAY INCENTIVE PROGRAM
PART I: LONGEVITY PAY

PART II: COLLEGE INCEN
The City will pay an incent%veyof:$20.00 per every 25 hours of
college per month as long as\theofficer is working toward a Police
related degree. This pay incentive is in addition to the city pay-
ing tuitions. The maximum an officer could earn under this system
would be $100.00 per month extra, which would be pay incentive for
a 125 hour police related degree (B.A., B.S., etc.).
PART III: CERTIFICATE LEVEL PAY
There are five levels of police certification now available to the
police officers of this State. It takes years of training, exper-
ience, and education to work your way from Basic Police Officer to
Senior Police Officer which is the highest level. By law, it takes
a certain amount of training hours, college hours, and years of ex-
perience to obtain each level of certification. The City will pay
a $20.00 per month per certificate to each officer, as he /she

tification, plus one extra instructor certificate. This instructor
certificate would be at the convenience of the department and at
the will of the Chief. This would be an earned pay level only to
be given when a clear deprtmegtai>need is shown. The total amount

12 MONTHS OF PROBATIONARY EMPLOYMENT.
THREE PART PAY INCENTIVE PROGRAM
PART I: LONGEVITY PAY
The City will pay $5.00 per month for every year of service to be
paid every three years, or $15.00 per month raise every third year
of service. For those already working as a fire fighter with the
department, it is fair to make this retroactive nine (9) years.
All firemen with a starting date prior to July 1, 1976, will have
a July 1, 1976, starting date for the purpose of this plan only.
PART II: COLLEGE INCENTIVE PAY
The City will pay incentive of $20.00 per every 25 college hours
per month providing the fire department employee is working toward
a department related or fire specialty degree. This pay incentive
would be in addition to city paid tuitions. This amount would mean
$100.00 extra per month, maximum, that any department employee could
earn under this system for a 125 hour fire related degree. Any
additional education, be it academic or vocational, can only be
advantageous to the Department.
PART III: CERTIFICATE LEVEL PAY
There are six levels of fire fighting certification now available
to fire department personnel in this State. As each fire fighter
reaches each level of certification, the City will pay $20.00 per
month, per certificate, up to all six levels of certification. The
total amount any fire fighter would be able to earn would be an
additional $120.00 per month under this part of the Incentive Pay
Program.
