RESOLUTION NO. 3 3 -1991
A RESOLUTION MODIFYING CERTAIN REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE POLICE
AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION I: That employees of the police and fire
departments shall receive $25.00 per
month for each certificate earned and
held and shall also be entitled to re-
ceive $25.00 per month for each 25 hours
of college credits earned.
SECTION 2: That employees of the police and fire
departments shall receive their long
ivity pay as earned rather than waiting
three years for such pay to become ef-
fective.
SECTION 3: That employees of the police and fire
departments shall receive compensation
for all legal holidays established by
the City as authorized by A.C.A.,
Section 14 -52 -105 and A.C.A., Section
14 -53 -106.
SECTION 4: That employees of the police department
who attain the rank of corporal shall be
compensated and additional $50.00 per
month.
SECTION 5: That employees of the police department
who attain the rank of sergeant shall be
compensated an additional $100.00 per
month.
SECTION 6: That employees of the police department,
upon being hired, shall be furnished, by
the City, the following equipment:
Clothing, consisting of shirts and pants;
badge; whistle chain and holder; collar
brass, tie and tie tack; clip board;
ticket book holder; underneath belt;
duty belt; handcuffs and holder; mace
and holder; baton and holder; holster;
ink pens; briefcase; ammunition; bullet
proof vest. Each police officer shall
be required to furnish his own weapon.
If a police officer leaves the police
force for any reason within one year of
his date of hire, all of said equipment
and clothing shall be returned to the
City. If a police officer remains em-
ployed by the police force for more than
one year, upon his leaving the force,
that officer shall be required to return
any clothing furnished the officer and
the badge. All other equipment may be
retained by the employee.
SECTION 7: That an employee of the police depart-
ment, after serving one year on the
police force, shall be entitled to re-
ceive a clothing allowance of $50.00
per month in lieu of being furnished
any additional clothing or equipment,
other than ammunition, by the City.
SECTION 8: Any and all other Resolution or regu-
lations, or parts of Resolutions or
regulations in conflict with this Resol-
ution, shall hereafter be null and void.
