RES NO 01-02-1992 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS RESOLUTION NO. -1992 A RESOLUTION IMPLEMENTING A RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR CITY OFFICES WHEREAS, The Van Buren Recycling Committee has recommended a recycling program to be implemented within the offices of the City and executed by City staff; and, WHEREAS, In its December 23, 1991 meeting, this program was presented to the City Council and the Council informally approved the program to be implemented beginning Jan- uary 1, 1992; and, WHEREAS, The recycling plan is now in effect and the City Council desires to formally adopt the recycling program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS. SECTION I: That the City Council officially approves and implements the Recycling Program for City offices which is attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution as if set out herein wordfor word._ PASSED AND APPROVED THIS .27r4 day of January, 1992. Arkansas 72956 a (501) 474 -1541 January 6, 1992 The following recycling program for the City of Van Buren, AR., has been implemented as of January 1, 1992, as per the City Recycling Committee's recommendation presented to the City Council 12- 23 -91. 1. Vivian Mitchell, Administrative Assistant, will manage the City Recycling Program. A. A recycling program between the city buildings is being coordinated. B. Pick -up is scheduled for each Friday afternoon between 3:00 -3:30 P.M. C. Don Mullens, Street Department employee, will be responsible for the pick -up and delivery to the collection center. D. Don Marley, Resource Systems, Inc., has agreed to accept recyclables. E. All City employees have been educated as to the collection of recyclables. F. Calendar has been noted for Mayor and City Recycling Committee to evaluate the program and possibly make modifications in two (2) months and then quarterly thereafter. 2. Building Supervisors: 1. City Hall Carol Ray 2. Police Dept. Wade Rogers 3. Street Dept. James Shelton 4. Library Clara Myers 5. Fire Depts: Station 11 Larry Childers Station 12 Jimmy Sullivant Station S3 Jim Hamlet 3. Each building supervisor has designated areas for collection in their buildings. 4. Containers have been provided in each building for collection and storage. 5. Materials to be recycled include: 1. White Office Paper 2. Aluminum Cans 3. Salvage Iron (Street Department Only) PROGRESS IS L2. I; OUR PROJECT AS
