BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, FOR THE CITY OF VAN BUREN,
ARKANSAS,A RESOLUTION TO BE ENTITLED:
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLULTION 02-04-2020
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE
CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, according to Resolution 09-03-2020, the Mayor was authorized by
the City Council of the City of Van Buren, Arkansas to enter into a
contract with Hawkins-Weir Engineers, Inc. for the amount of
$27,000, to conduct a drainage evaluation and report addressing
necessary storm water drainage improvements affecting the
downtown; and
WHEREAS, the drainage evaluation and report project was incorrectly coded
multiple times over a six (6) year period of time and included two
or more project numbers from Hawkins-Weir Engineers, Inc.
(2019116 and 2020092) being combined as one project. It was
determined the best way to address the confusion was to code the
project's engineering charges to the City's hourly services contract
with Hawkins-Weir, Engineers, Inc., which made the originally
approved amount exceed $27,000.
WHEREAS, there have been other engineering agreements with the same project
name or project number, thus adding to confusion when posting
occurs. To eliminate this moving forward, it has been determined
the best account tracking will be to separate the projects distinctively
and to amend Resolution 09-03-2020 from the amount of
$27,000.00 to $27,404.94 to include the hourly service charges and
other project numbers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: Resolution 09-03-2020, which authorized an engineering contract with Hawkins
Weir Engineer, Inc. for an amount of $27,000, is hereby amended to the new
contract amount of$27,404.94.
SECTION 2: Effective July 27,2026,all projects for the Downtown Streetscape will be distinctly
separate and will have different project numbers both internally and externally for
better account tracking on a project of this size.

Apass, approve, and adopt, by a vote of for andZagainst, the foregoing Resolution at its
regular meeting held on the 271h day of July 2026.
