RES NO 10-05-1994 CITY OF VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS 0 RESOLUTION NO. 7 7 M. 5/ A Resolution to Support Referred Act Number 1 Arkansas Soft Drink Tax WHEREAS, the Arkansas General Assembly in a Special Session held in December 1992 adopted the Soft Drink Tax in order to fund the state's Medicaid Program, and; WHEREAS, the tax has been a great success by raising the necessary revenues, and; WHEREAS, the federal government has provided three dollars ($3.00) of federal funding for each one dollar $1.00) raised through the Arkansas Soft Drink Tax, and; WHEREAS, there has been very little negative impact upon the consumers of Arkansas due to the enactment of the soft drink tax, and; WHEREAS, the Arkansas Municipal League, in 601h Annual Convention assembled, endorsed continuation of the soft drink tax enacted by the Arkansas General Assembly in December of 1992; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VAN BUREN endorse continuation of the Arkansas Soft Drink Tax, and encourage all citizens of VAN BUREN to vote in favor of Referred Act Number 1 at the general election of 1994.
