PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 16th DAY OF DECEMBER ,19 96 ATTESTED: MAYOR MAYOR CITY CLERK TREASURER 7,, Proposal to Adopt CABO One and Two Family Dwelling Code December Planning Commission Meeting 1996 I I I Mayor John Riggs Van Buren Planning Commission City of Van Buren Van Buren, Arkansas 72956 Dear Planning Commission Members, The City of Van Buren Building Department proposes the adoption of the SBCCI (Southern Building Code Congress International) building code for one and two family dwellings known as CABO One and Two Family Dwelling Code, 1995 Edition, with revisions. This Building Code also has mechanical and plumbing codes that are covered, by other separate codes; therefore the proposal is to adopt only, Chapters One (1) through Ten (10), and Chapters 39 through 47. The first ten chapters are regulations that concern the building structure, while the last nine chapters regulate the electrical installations. CABO is exclusively for one and two family dwellings and accessory buildings only, and will not be used as the building code for other structures. Since CABO is a code designed to be used exclusively for houses and duplexes, I believe it will be easier for contractors to purchase and use this code. I have eight copies of the code in my office, three will be filed with the City Clerk, the remainder are available for sale to contractors, builders, home owners, etc.. Carl Hines Building Inspector e
