HDC Minutes 07-13-2023City of Van Buren, Arkansas Historic District Commission 1003 Broadway • Van Buren, Arkansas 72956 HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MINUTES %Y 13, 2023 1. Call to Oxdex/Roll Call. The Van Burcn Historic District Commission held its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the Municipal Complex. Comm ssion members present: Chairman Vickie Davis, Vice -Chairman Derald Porter, Lindsay Dodson, Paul Gibson, Cathy Gifford, and Cominission Secretary Jennifer Willoughby. Chairman Andy Knox was absent. In attendance to represent for COA: Jeff Slack of Fort City Tattooing at 612 Main Street. 2. Approval of Minutes from May 11, 2023. A motion was made by Commissioner Cathy Gifford and seconded by Commissioner Paul Gibson to approve the minutes. The motion was approved unanimously. 3. COA #4-2023�i12 Main (A&B)—The Box Arcade/Fort City Tattooing; Moxie Ventures/Jeff Slack; Moxie Ventures, LLC submitted a COA to paint the exterior of the building (10.8 facade), paint exterior signage (10.25 signage), and paint window signage (10.25 signage) using paint colors chosen from the Historic Colors of America Chart. The exterior paint colors given, for both addresses 612A & 612B, were Sandy Bluff, Rawhide, Sayward Pine, and Codman Claret. The signage colors given for 612A, The Box Arcade, were Andover Creme, Codman Claret, Robins Egg, and Venetian Glass; the font used Nvill be Machine Bold. The signage colors given for 612B, Fort City Tattooing, were Sayward Pinc, Andover Crcme, Codman Claret, and Rawhide; the fonts being used will be Egyptian Bold and Publicity Gothic. A motion was made by Commissioner Paul Gibson and seconded by Commissioner Lindsay Dodson that nothing in the proposed design significantly affects the adjacent downtown buildings. A motion to approve the exterior paint fa§ade and signage design was made by Commissioner Cathy Gifford and seconded by Commissioner Lindsay Dodson. Both motions were approved unanimously. 4. Old/New Business—CLG Quadrennial Review Response from AHPP. The Commission reviewed the email from AHPP and now improvement recommendations. Commissioner Paul Gibson wanted to let the comnussion know that the Rotary Club is doing very much needed and appreciated volunteer work to power wash, paint, replace mirrors, etc. in the public bathrooms at Blanche Moore Parlc. 5. Adjourn. A motion to adjourn was made by Connmissionex Cathy Gifford and seconded by Commissioner Derald Porter. The motion was approved unanimously. idcie Davis, Chairman
